Goals

  1. Promote employment of rural women, including activities alternative to agriculture (tourism and other services, remote employment and others), and increase the number of women-run projects.
  2. Ensure involvement of rural women in proactive planning of rural territories, including through grants.
  3. Promote the development of women’s skills and competences in the management of rural areas.
  4. Activities within the framework of the Committee of Rural Women of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation.
  5. Engage with the regions on implementation of programmes for an integrated development of rural areas.
  6. Cooperate with the Women’s Union of Russia to implement activities in the countryside.

Nowadays women lead almost every third agricultural enterprise in the countryside, occupy 30% of municipal posts and head a third of rural settlements. One in four family livestock companies is headed by a woman, and women make up almost a third of the novice farmers who have received grants from the state in the past three years. However, rural women are the most socially vulnerable group of the population, which is typical of all countries.
