WE, THE PARTICIPANTS OF THE FIRST EURASIAN WOMEN’S FORUM, came together in St. Petersburg in the year of the 70th anniversary of the end of World War II and the foundation of the United Nations,
collectively seeing the future of our continent as a kingdom of harmony, peace, justice, support and security, shared values and equal opportunities, rights and freedoms for all
committed to equal rights and the inbred human decency of women and men and other goals and principles declared by
the Charter of the United Nations,
the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and other international human rights instruments,
the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women and the Convention on the Rights of the Child,
the Declaration on the Elimination of Violence Against Women and the Declaration on the Right to Development,
convinced that women can and shall play the decisive role in today’s world, building a new dimension of dialogue among nations and cultures, facilitating the recovery of the society confronted by spiritual and moral challenges,
determined to use the great capacities of women in XXI century to address crucial challenges and search for a sustainable response to current challenges, which are, primarily, caused by armed conflicts, the issues of refugees and displaced persons;
reaffirm the need to promote a comprehensive community-focused sustainable development and strengthen the institute of family, the protection of physical and spiritual health of our peoples, environmental efforts, and promote green safety in all human activities
STATE that the first Eurasian Women’s Forum demonstrated the positive trend of the consolidation of international women for peace, harmony and social well-being,
CONSIDER the New Post-2015 Sustainable Development Agenda submitted for the approval of the UN General Assembly as a universal program of action to reach the global sustainable development goals,
NOTE that women are becoming increasingly engaged in social and economic efforts and contributing to the strengthening of international cooperation in all spheres. Women have been widely recognized for playing an essential role in advocating healthy lifestyles, the principles of social justice, charity, and the support of humanitarian projects,
CONDEMN AND STRONGLY STAND against political and other sanctions, including against parliamentarians, which contradict international law, democratic values and undermine political engagement and fundamentals of mutual trust,
BELIEVE that it is necessary to implement the Platform for Action adopted during the Fourth World Conference on Women (Beijing, 1995) and the outcome documents of the 23rd Special Session of the UN General Assembly Women 2000: Gender Equality, Development and Peace for the Twenty-First Century (2000), and the coordination of efforts of the international community on the verge of the upcoming high-level meeting on the 20th anniversary of the Beijing Declaration and the Platform for Action,
STRESSING THE NEED FOR:
strengthening the role of women in reaching the global sustainable development goals and implementing the new Post-2015 Development Agenda of the United Nations,
comprehensive and guaranteed participation of women in public governance and elections at all levels, social and political life; and, to this end, the removal of legal, administrative, cultural and economic barriers,
the support of economic and business empowerment of women, women entrepreneurship, equal access of women to assets, including land, credit, research and facilities, professional training, information, communications and markets,
ensuring the right to equal opportunities in employment and professional activities without gender discrimination, conditions to overcome the family-career challenge, while at the same time, supporting the competitiveness of women in labour market through professional orientation, training in new professions, professional upgrade and development,
the protection of life and health of women, especially at reproductive age, and the prevention of socially-inflicted diseases among women,
food assistance for the most vulnerable social groups, especially women and children,
the investment to human capital, building and development of social sphere,
the prevention and elimination of all forms of violence against women and children, assistance to countries in war conflicts or struck by natural disasters, women and children being the most vulnerable and unprotected social groups,
the urgent action to address the life-and-death challenges of refugees – women, children and elderly people who were forced to abandon their homes and look for shelter in other countries;
a common stand of governments and the civil society against terrorist networks, international drug trafficking and organized crime,
RECOGNIZE the responsibility and the mission of women to protect health and bring up children, pursue family values, preserve the positive moral and ethical framework in the society, develop public and community-based institutes,
international interparliamentary associations to mainstream legislative support of legal, economic and social empowerment of women, improvement of the mechanisms for the protection of family, mother and child, ensuring affordable and quality medical and social care,
using the best practices of Eurasian countries in ensuring access of women to education throughout their lifetime in line with their needs and capabilities and building national toolkits to achieve the relevant Millennium Development Goals,
promotion of cultural dialogue among nations, building of humanitarian ties and developing charity, and facilitation of the necessary legal framework to support these efforts,
engagement for hosting international initiatives for education, humanitarian action and charity, and research of current gender challenges,
building expert discussion platforms for regular exchanges of information and best practices,
hosting the second Eurasian Women’s Forum in 2018 while giving it the status of a permanent gathering,
APPEAL to leaders of governments, political and public figures, academia and cultural echelons, the media and NGOs to provide a comprehensive support for the dissemination and the practical use of the clauses of this Resolution.
