The Discussion Club ‘Female Leaders Across Territories’ held a meeting on the theme of ‘Topical Issues Concerning the Development of Rural Municipalities’, which generated lively interest among the event participants.
Elena Avdeyeva, the coordinator of the Discussion Club ‘Female Leaders Across Territories’, a project of the Council of the Eurasian Women’s Forum, served as a speaker. She told the meeting participants about proactive budgeting as well as the role and development of regional public self-governments in rural areas. In addition, information was presented at the meeting about ways to participate in grant programmes, which offers a real financial opportunity for the development of specific regions.
One example of this comprehensive approach is a municipal programme launched by the Myaksinsky rural settlement in the Vologda Region. The club members learned about the different stages of the programme’s development and the approach to the development of regions, which is based on historical context. A wide range of issues to be further addressed was identified as a result of the meeting.
The Discussion Club took place as part of the School of Civic Engagement’s project: ‘Development of Rural Areas: Support Programmes and Successful Solutions’.
